George Dickel 19yr Randall's Single Barrel Mon, May 01, 23 By the time you read this, this whiskey might already be sold out. And if that’s the situation you find yourself in, I do sincerely apologize. But in the end, there’s not much we can do about it. You’ll have to address your complaints to those pesky angels… The label says 15 years, and that represents the minimum age for this particular single-barrel offering. That is to say that some barrels will hover close to that 15 year mark, and some will be older. A few, like our Randall’s 25th anniversary selection, will be much older. Our bottle was distilled in January of 2004, and bottled this year, making it 19 years old when Dickel dumped the barrel for us. The angel’s share refers to the amount of whiskey that evaporates as a barrel ages. After almost two decades, the angels took more than they shared of this one; and the ultimate yield was less than 100 bottles. It’s a shame too, because this stuff is *fantastic*. If you’re a fan of deep, rich, sappy, charry flavors, you won’t be disappointed here. And as a fan of reasonably proofed whiskies, I appreciate what this one brings to the table at only 80 proof. In its weight class, this thing is an absolute monster. But if you’re of the impression that American whiskies need to be 130+ proof to be remarkable, I strongly encourage you to take a pass on this one. Just avoid it altogether. For the rest of us, it might improve our chances of getting one. The George Dickel 15yr (secretly 19yr) Randall’s 25th Anniversary Bottle is available at Missouri Randall’s stores now.
