Stone Ruin Ten

Ruin10RUINING PALATES SINCE 2002 n June 2012, we celebrated the 10th birthday of our notoriously mega-hopped double IPA, Stone Ruination IPA, with the release of a very special version that was even bigger and, incredibly, even hoppier than the original. If Stone Ruination IPA is “A Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop,” then Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA was an amped-up heavy metal version of that ode delivered with the force of a sledgehammer. Luckily for us, our fans love loud and aggressive brews, specifically when copious amounts of humulus lupulus are involved. The original release of this beer was so instantly beloved by those who dared try it!

Quantity is limited so act fast! $29.99

winemaker’s notes:

Classic lemon in color, becomes more golden with age. Inviting fruit aromas of honeydew, yellow peach and fig are supported by vanilla and caramel. Creamy vanilla integrates with honeysuckle, pineapple and apricot for a fabulous richness on the palate. A luscious mouthfeel leads to a generous and creamy finish. Pleasantly voluptuous from a cooler vintage.
alcohol by volume: 14.4%
critical acclaim:

“A crowd-pleasing style, openly fruity and well-oaked, offering an up-front mix of toasty oak and exotic tropical and ripe green tree fruit. Well-focused and persistent, this ends with a touch of lemon peel and spice.”

A few new beers arrived at our North County location today!

First up, from Ruhstaller, 1881!

A true California Red Ale with all ingredients hailing from the Golden State. This hop-yard-specific version of our classic 1881 showcases the lively character and floral aromatics of California-grown hops followed by a clean, crisp finish.

Ruhstaller also offers Capt., a Black IPA

Our California Black IPA embodies Captain Frank Ruhstaller’s legacy, boldy balancing the bright citrus aroma and profile of an IPA with a surprisingly smooth, lightly-roasted chocolate malt body.

Today we also received a fresh shipment of Oude Gueuze Tilquin – bearing the 2013 vintage. We also have a few of the 2012 vintage left, so buy both and try them side by side and see how they compare!

Oude Gueuze Tilquin is a spontaneous fermentation beer, produced from the blending of 1, 2, and 3 year old lambics. It is unfiltered and unpasteurized, and refermented in the bottle for at least 6 months.

Be on the lookout tomorrow. We’re supposed to be getting the first Missouri shipment of beer from Excel Brewing, located in Breese IL. Formerly known mostly for Ski soda, an ex-Stone brewer teamed up with Excel to brew some awesome beer! We’re excited!!

In a secluded spot in Aberdeenshire, nestled in the rolling East Highland hills, you’ll find The GlenDronach Distillery, one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries. The GlenDronach Distillery is famous for producing richly sherried single malt whiskies of inimitable and individual character.

GlenDronach 12 year Oldglendronach_12

The 12 Year Old is rich, creamy, and silky-smooth. Warm, rich oak and sherry sweetness, it has a full mouth feel, tasting of raisins and soft fruits. Spicy with medium length and a dry finish.

GlenDronach 15 Year Old

Renowned amongst many whisky enthusiasts around the world, this remarkable and full bodied malt is matured for a minimum of 15 years in the finest Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 46%, the GlenDronach Revival is non chill filtered and of natural colour. A truly excellent single malt.

A very dynamic and full bodied dram for its age, this malt is chewy with coffee and chocolate and tastes of treacle scones.

You won’t believe what showed up in our Missouri stores today…

REMY MARTIN V IS HERE!! Otherwise knows as ‘Remy White’ – just arrived in our Missouri stores today at $44.99.

You may be tempted to call Rémy V a Cognac or even a vodka. It’s neither. While the spirit is made in Cognac, it can’t fall under that brandy appellation, as it is not aged. And as for vodka, V has too much flower and fruit to fall into that “odorless, tasteless” category.

Rémy Martin calls it a ‘Distilled Grape Spirit’, but they could also choose for the name Eaux-de-Vie because it is an unaged brandy.

What it also is-is made for the freezer!

After distillation, the brandy is filtered through a chill filtration technique (minus 10 degrees Celsius) ensuring that it is crystal clear, because a newly made brandy is never absolutely clear.

This filtration ensures that this eaux-de-vie will not show any flakes in the freezer. This is very important because many Cocktail-makers would put the “V” in the Freezer before using it in Cocktails.

So-smooth, mixable, yet with some of the floral-and-fruit character of a brandy or eaux-de-vie. It’s summer; drink it up.

The Arran Malt

arran-10-years-oldOpened on the Scottish island of Arran in 1995, Isle of Arran Distillers is one of the few remaining independent distilleries in Scotland. Based at Lochranza on the Isle of Arran, one of the most beautiful and famous in Scotland which lies off the West Coast between Ayrshire and Kintyre. The location offers perfect water for whisky production, cleansed by granite and softened by peat as it comes down from the mountain above. The atmosphere of sea breezes and clear mountain air together with the warm flow of the Gulf Stream matures the Arran Malt to perfection in earth floored warehouses.

Arran Malt 10 Year Old

A touch of cinnamon adds a spicy edge to the soft and sweet texture which captivates the palate. The classic Arran citrus notes have rounded with age and reveal new depths of character against a background of sweet oak.

On the finish, it drifts over the tongue like golden syrup and fades ever so slowly to tempt another sip. This is a beautifully made whisky. Arran has come a long way in 10 years. Truly the best things in life are always worth waiting for!

Arran Malt 14 Years Old

Arran-14-Year-OldAn initial burst of brine leads onto warming toffee appleas and hazlenuts. This is followed by dates, chocolate orange and spiced tea cake. The mouthfeel is overwhelmingly rich and weighty.

A trademark Arran finish with cinnamon spices leads back to where the experience began, with a classic island-style salty wave balancing the sweet-fruit of the palate.

Arran Malt Port Cask Finish

Layered fruits and spice combine with cinnamon baked apple wrestling with raisin and plum pudding. The dram opens out to reveal warming barley and a hint of sweet pear.

This is a classic Single Malt with punch that dances on the palate. The trademark Arran barley-sweetness shines through the layers of complexity.ingering complexity, each sip reveals new depths.
